Abstract
Background: Nationally there are 37.5 % of young girls having menarche in the age of 13-14 years old. Conducting education about menstruation is very important for school-young girls. Peer education using snake ladder media can be effective in increasing knowledge of young girls about menarche. Objective: Conducting peer education to increase the knowledge of young girls in the age of 10-12 years old about menarche at Sidoharum, Sempor, Kebumen. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. This application involved 5 young girls aged 10-12 years having menarche. The instruments of this study were Counseling Action Plan of peer education and questionnaires. Result: After having peer education, there was an increase in the knowledge of young girls about menarche, i.e. all participants are in good category (100 %). They have good knowledge about menarche. Conclusion: Peer education can effectively increase the knowledge of young girl aged 10-12 years about menarche.
