Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease, one of which is characterized by high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) which can result in impaired insulin secretion, insulin resistance or both. In diabetes mellitus, hyperglycemia can also lead to various serious and diverse disorders. Soaking the feet or body parts in warm water can have the effect of increasing circulation on muscle relaxation, because heat can cause dilation of blood vessels resulting in increased blood circulation. Objective: To providing an overview of nursing care for diabetes mellitus with peripheral perfusion problems by applying foot bath therapy with warm water to increase blood flow in the feet of Diabetes Mellitus patients. Methods: Case studies used descriptive methods obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of the case study were three patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. The time required for a case study of the application of warm water therapy was three meetings. The instruments used were blood pressure meters, water thermometers, warm water and buckets. Results: Implementation carried out in accordance with the intervention in nursing diagnoses of peripheral perfusion is not effectively related to hyperglycemia, namely identifying changes in sensation, monitoring skin changes and measuring water temperature with a thermometer. Application of nursing action taken is foot soak therapy with warm water. The results of the evaluation carried out for 3 meetings showed a slight decrease in tingling, improved foot moisture, and reddish toes indicating good circulation. The ABI value increased after treatment with a range of values between 1.0-1.4 and the three respondents experienced an increase between 0,1-0,6 after therapy . Recommendation: Teach The application of foot bath therapy with warm water can help improve peripheral tissue perfusion in patients with diabetes mellitus
