Abstract

Background: care for people with severe mental disorders requires a holistic approach between care in a mental hospital and family support, but this is widely ignored so that the results are less effective. Research purposes: to conduct a literature review on the care for people with serious mental disorders, both in mental hospitals and at home in the form of family support. Methods: literature review published in 2018-2020. Results: (1) treatment of people with serious mental disorders in a mental hospital is integrated pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically; (2) family support includes emotional, informational, instrumental, and assessment support; (3) treatment of serious mental disorders requires a holistic approach between care in a mental hospital and family support in order to have a positive self-concept. Conclusion: treatment of people with severe mental disorders requires a holistic approach between care in a mental hospital and family support.
