Abstract

Background : Family support is the process of relationship between family and its social environment, the support consist of emotional support, appreciation support, informational support and instrumental support. Objective : To determine family support of the elderly in participating elderly posyandu in Tanjungsari Village Petanahan District. Methods : The research used descriptive quantitative correlation method and cross-sectional design, the sampling used total sampling technique and the sample is 65 respondents. The research instrument used family support questionairee and attendance sheet for the elderly posyandu. Results : The results showed that family support on elderly activity in following elderly posyandu in good category 27 respondents (41,5%), sufficient category 24 respondents (37%) and less category 14 respondents (21,5%). The research used bivariate analysis with chi-square test and the results showed p-value 0.001, it means there is a relationship between family support on elderly activities in following elderly posyandu. Conclusion : The results of the research showed that there is a relationship between family support on elderly activities in following elderly posyandu in Tanjungsari Village Petanahan District Recommendation : For the next researcher can examine with another factors such as elderly knowledge, motivation of elderly and physical condition which is affect the activities of elderly in following elederly posyandu.
