Abstract
Background: Hospitalization can cause anxiety in school-age children (6-12 years). In school-age children it can be caused by separation from school, peers and parents, loss of control over previous skills, bodily injury and pain. Brain gym relaxation therapy can reduce anxiety levels in children during hospitalization. Onjective: This study aims to apply brain gym relaxation therapy to pediatric patient who experiences anxiety due to hospitalization. Methode: This study uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The study was conducted in the Husna room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital which consisted of 3 participants with an anxiety nursing diagnosis and was measured using the HRSA (Hamilton Rating Scale For Anxiety) anxiety questionnaire instrument. Results: The results of nursing care at the assessment stage found that the three respondents complained of feeling tense, worried about disease, boredom, palpitations, decreased appetite, disturbed or uncomfortable rest and sleep, disturbed activities, difficulty concentrating, seemed tense and poor eye contact with the HRSA score beforerelaxation therapy brain gym An. R26, An. S 21 and An. H 24 where the three respondents experienced moderate anxiety. Meanwhile, after implementing the brain gym for 3 days, the HRSA An score was obtained. R 10, An. S 8 and An. H 5, then the results of the final evaluation on An. R, An. S and An. H, the problem was resolved with the HRSA scores of the three patients less than 14 (no anxiety). Conclution: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the brain gym can reduce the level of anxiety in school-age children due to hospitalization.
