Abstract

Background: The incidence of Bronchopneumonia in children in Central Java reached 67.7% in 2019. One of the non-pharmacological interventions with pappermint inhalation and cough is effectively aimed at removing sputum in a child with Bronchopneumonia. Objective: Expose the analysis of nursing care in Bronchopneumonia patients with major nursing problems airway clearance is ineffective. Method: This study used a case study method. The subjects of this study were bronchopneumonia patients according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Nursing Care Outcomes: The main nursing diagnosis is that airway clearance is ineffectively associated with a retained secret. Airway clearance output: effective cough increases, sputum production decreases, dyspnea decreases, the frequency of breathing improves. Interventions: Airway management with interventions Monitor breath patterns, monitor additional breath sounds, monitor sputum, Position semi-fowler, give warm drinks, give oxygen, provide nonpharmacological techniques of inhalation therapy aromatherapy papermint and cough effective, collaborative administration of bronchodilators. The intervention was carried out according to the SOP, with a duration of inhalation time of 10- 15 minutes within a period of 3 consecutive days and an effective cough which was carried out as much as 3-4x a day. The results of the evaluation of the five patients showed that coughing decreased, complaints of tightness decreased, additional breathing sounds decreased, sputum production decreased considerably and Rr decreased. Conclusion: There was an effect of giving peppermint inhalation and effective cough on airway clearance is ineffective.
