Abstract

Background: COPD is a global disease and occurs in all parts of the world. COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) can make sufferers do limited activities that trigger feelings of psychological stress and anxiety. The anxiety felt by COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients can affect the quality of their sleep. While sick people need a lot of sleep, but with this condition the patient will experience ineffective sleep and change his sleep pattern due to feelings of anxiety in the environment and his illness. Objective: to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients at Inpatient Unit of Bruno Community Health Center. Methods: This research is a descriptive correlation with a cross sectional approach. A sample of 30 COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients was taken by purposive sampling technique. Results : The characteristics of most of the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients at Inpatient Unit of Bruno Community Health Center were 56-65 years old and male. The anxiety level of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients at Inpatient Unit of Bruno Community Health Center was mostly in the category of moderate anxiety. The sleep quality of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients at Inpatient Unit of Bruno Community Health Center was mostly in the poor category. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the level of anxiety and sleep quality of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patients at Inpatient Unit of Bruno Community Health Center with p = 0.002. Recommendation: Nurses are expected to provide education and alternative anxiety-reducing therapies for COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) sufferers.
