Abstract

Background: New patient orientation is information which nurses and patients or families will get an agreement by providing nursing care services. By providing information about the ward, the surrounding environment, applicable regulations, available facilities, health workers, as well as explanations of patient activities to patients or family members, then the new patient orientation procedure can be carried out. Purpose of Research: Describes the role of nurses in carrying out new patient orientation at the Non-COVID-19 Inpatient Installation at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methodology of Research: This research is a quantitative descriptive study and uses a method which cross sectional approach. The population in this study is 66 nurses, then a sample of 50 respondents took into account according the conditions during the pandemic and hospital policies for maximum sampling. Result of Research: The implementation of room orientation shows mostly very well (70%). Room facilities in the very good category (98%). Hospital policy in very good category (100%). Health workers and staff (100%) in good category. Rights and obligations (100%) are very good. Conclusion: The role of nurses in the implementation of new patient orientation at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital shows that it is categorized as very good, its implementation is in accordance with the SOP in this hospital. Rekommendation: It is expected that the hospital will carry out periodic supervision to assess the implementation of new patient orientation. For further researchers, it is hoped that they will be able to conduct research on the analysis of the factors that influence the implementation of orientation in new patients.
