Abstract

Background: Abdominal colic is pain in the stomach that comes and goes and originates from the organs in the abdomen. Abdominal colic can be caused by various factors, including: infection of the internal organs of the stomach, bloating, and food allergies. Abdominal colic pain can cause discomfort and interference with daily activities. Objective: To conduct an analysis of acute pain nursing care for clients with abdominal colic using warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy in the emergency department of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The research subjects were 5 patients with abdominal colic in the emergency department at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. The intervention provided was warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy. Data collection was carried out using the nursing care format, Nursing Kit, and innovative SOP for warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy. Results: The results of the assessment showed that the five patients had the same main complaint of acute pain. The priority nursing diagnosis for Patients I-V was acute pain as evidenced by the five patients who complained of pain in the scale range of 5-7. The nursing interventions carried out were pain management and warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy. The nursing implementation carried out is pain management. Apart from pain management, the author also applies warmcompress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy. The results of the nursing evaluation for Patients I-V showed a reduction in pain symptoms after warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy. The innovative action of applying warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy showed a reduction in the pain scale. Patient 1 experienced a decrease in the pain scale 3. Patient II experienced a decrease in the pain scale 3. Patient III experienced a decrease in the pain scale 4. Patient IV experienced a decrease in the pain scale 3. Patient V experienced a decrease in the pain scale 2. Conclusion: Warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy can be an alternative non-pharmacological treatment to reduce abdominal colic pain in patients in the emergency department. Recommendation: It is recommended to create a standard SOP for the innovation of warm compress therapy and a combination of lavender aromatherapy to facilitate implementation of the action in the field.
