Abstract

Background: Population in Indonesia on June 30th 2022 was recorded at 275,361,267 people and population in Nusawungu Village was 4,932 people. Adolescence is a phase of adjustment in life and the search for identity. One of the obstacles that appears in this phase is low self-confidence. One of the factors that influence self-confidence is self-concept. Purpose: To identify the correlation between self-concept and the level of selfconfidence. Method: This type of research is correlational with a quantitative approach. The population are students of class VII and VIII totaling 147 students. The sample was obtained by using a total sampling technique of 147 students. The instrument uses self-concept and self-confidence questionnaires. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Chi Square test. Results: The results showed that the level of self-concept of the respondents was mostly high (74,3%) and the level of self-confidence was mostly high (60,0%). The results of the Chi Square analysis test with (α = 0.05) obtained the result of p value = 0.000 which indicates that there is a relationship between self-concept and the level of self-confidence. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between self-concept and the level of adolescent self-confidence in class VII and VIII students at MTs Al Hidayah Nusawungu. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to be able to continue research on the correlation between self-concept and self-confidence in middle adolescents or late adolescents.
