Abstract
Background: Breastfeeding technique is one of the factors that affect milk production. If the technique is not properly applied, it can cause sore nipples. This will make a mother reluctant to do breastfeeding, so the infant rarely suckles or breastfeeds. If the baby seldom breast feed, it will give bad effect. This is because the baby's suckle influences the stimulation of the next milk production. A mother often has lack of information about the benefits of breastfeeding and a proper breastfeeding technique (Roesli 2012 in Angsuko, 2011). The writer, therefore, intends to provide a simulation method – health education simulation using poster and video about breastfeeding technique. Objective: To find out the result of the effect of a simulation method – health education about breastfeeding techniques using poster and video towards the behavior of the mother in Karanggayam, Kebumen. Method: This scientific paper is a descriptive qualitative with case study approach. The subject was an informant who provided the necessary information during the process of the study. Result: The effect of simulation method – health education using poster about breastfeeding technique was good but the result was not satisfying (less than the maximum). Whereas the effect of health education using video towards the mother’s behavior was better. It was indicated by the mother (client) was able to apply the technique being taught, although it was not exactly like what was shown in the video. Conclusion: Simulation method – health education using poster and video has an effect on the mother's knowledge
