Abstract

Background: Asthma is a serious health problem affecting 1-18% of the global population, especially children, with symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough, and wheezing. Its prevalence continues to rise, with WHO estimating it to reach 400 million by 2025. In Indonesia, the prevalence of asthma reaches 1,017,290 people, with 132,505 cases in Central Java. Oxygen therapy is essential in addressing ineffective breathing patterns in asthma patients. In this context, research on nursing care for asthma patients with oxygen therapy intervention becomes relevant. Objective: This study aims to analyze nursing care for asthma patients related to ineffective breathing patterns in the Emergency Department, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, evaluation, and oxygen therapy. Method: This research used a descriptive method through a case study approach. The research respondents consist of three asthma patients. Therapy for patients used Oxygenation. The instruments used were nursing process, SOP, observation sheets, consent, oxygen (cylinder/central), mask hose, stethoscope, humidifier, flowmeter, sterile fluid. Results: Research on ineffective breathing patterns in asthma patients shows that oxygenation therapy is effective in reducing respiratory rate, improving oxygen saturation, and reducing wheezing. After 2 days of therapy, the respiratory rate decreased, breath sounds improved, and oxygen saturation increased in all patients, indicating improved respiratory conditions. Recommendations: It is hoped that further researchers can investigate Oxygenation therapy in the care of asthma patients, and add relevant methods to further improve research outcomes.
