Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood. Families with adolescent development stages have various problems, one of which is smoking. The prevalence of teenagers who smoke in Central Java is 28.72%. Teenagers' smoking habits start because of a lack of information, being persuaded by friends and their environment and from families who smoke too. The family is the first environment that influences various aspects of children's development. Objective: To explain the analysis of family nursing care at adolescent development stages with a nursing diagnosis of family inability to cope with education about smoking in Karangrejo village. Method: This research is descriptive. The sample consisted of 5 respondents who were obtained following the inclusion criteria. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Results: The five teenage clients after being educated about smoking using booklet media experienced an increase in knowledge about smoking by 38% Conclusion: Providing education about smoking to families of teenagers with active smokers is effective in increasing teenagers' knowledge about the dangers of smoking so they can reduce smoking. Recommendation: The results of the analysis show that providing education about smoking using booklets has an effect on knowledge about the dangers of cigarette consumption in adolescents.
