Abstract

Background: Many teenagers (adolescents) get Dysmenorrhea during menstruation. It can be treated by conducting non-pharmacologic treatment. Cutaneous stimulation (slow stroke back massage) is a technique that can be applied to reduce pain. A lot of teenagers or families do not know how to handle of dysmenorrhoea. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying Cutaneous Stimulation (Slow Stroke Back Massage). There are 3 participants got dysmenorrhoea in Independent Midwifery Clinic of Dwi Sumarni, Amd. Keb. All the participants felt painful of which the scale was severely controled. Objective: To give obstetric care by applying cutaneous stimulation (Slow Stroke Back Massage) and using fennel oil to lower dysmenorrhoea pain of teenagers. Method: This study is analytical descriptive with case study approach. The samples were teenagers experiencing dysmenorrhoea. The data collected was obtained from the primary data (interviews and observation), and the secondary data was obtained from the library study and documentation. This research was conducted from April 1-May 6, 2017. Result: Before the intervention of Cutaneous stimulus, participants got dysmenorrhoea. The pain scale of the 3 participants was severely controlled. The pain scale of the first participant was 8, The second participant’s scale was 7, and the third participant’s pain scale was 8. Meanwhile after having the intervention, the pain scale was decreasing to be light scale – between 3 and 2. Conclusion: After having Cutaneous stimulation (Slow Stroke Back Massage) Dysmenorrhoea of the 3 participants was declining. Thus the application of stimulation of cutaneous (slow stroke back massage) is very effective for teenagers experiencing dysmenorrhea if it is done in accordance with the rules.
