Abstract

Background: The incidence of dysminorrhea is substantial worldwide with a high prevalence rate in adolescents. The high prevalence and morbidity of dysminorrhea has received little medical attention. This is because many women are conditioned to accept pain as normal, even though it causes disruption to the daily activities of adolescents and reduces their quality of life. Objective: Applying warm compresses and lavender aromatherapy as a nonpharmacological treatment for menstrual pain experienced by adolescent girls. Method: This descriptive study employed a case study approach. Data were obtained from interviews, observation, documentation, and literature study. This study applied warm compress therapy and lavender aromatherapy to three adolescent girls, focused on pain as the variable, and used nursing care instruments for three consecutive in the early morning. Results: Assessment during menstruation the client experiences pain with a scale of 6-7 so that a nursing diagnosis of acute pain is found with pain management nursing interventions. The actions provided use nonpharmacoligical therapy, namely warm compress therapy and lavender aromatherapy for 3 days. The results after being given therapy on the third day the client did not experience pain, pain scale 1-2, anxiety did not exist, and grimacing in pain did not exist. Conclusion: Warm compress therapy and lavender aromatherapy to reduce dysmenorrhea pain and reduce signs and symptoms in clients with dysmenorrhea
