Abstract
Background: Aging increases the likelihood of elderly individuals experiencing various health problems, one of the most common being heightened anxiety. In Indonesia, it is estimated that around 39 million of the total 238 million elderly population experience anxiety disorders. Family support is one of the key factors in promoting happiness, security, and comfort among the elderly, especially emotional support, which has a significant impact on both physical and mental health. Non- pharmacological interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) have been proven effective in reducing anxiety levels in elderly individuals. Objective: This study aims to describe the provision of family nursing care in families at the elderly developmental stage with the primary nursing problem of ineffective family health management, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the creative medium of baju jumput (tie-dye activity). Method: This scientific paper employs a descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The case study subjects were families with elderly members who met the criteria for ineffective family health management. Results: Based on assessments of three client families, the identified nursing problem was ineffective family health management. Interventions were implemented through six sessions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Evaluation showed that CBT successfully reduced anxiety levels and improved cognitive function in the elderly across the three families. Recommendation: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is recommended as an effective intervention for reducing anxiety, thereby enhancing the well-being and quality of life of elderly individuals.
