Abstract

Background: Sectio Caesarean delivery is a surgical delivery in the form of an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus to remove the fetus. Acute pain post sectio caesarea causes discomfort to the patient. Non-pharmacological methods that can be used to treat pain include bitter orange aromatherapy and slow deep breathing. Objective: Analyzing nursing care with the intervention of providing bitter orange aromatherapy and slow deep breathing in postoperative sectio caesarea patients with acute pain problems in the Flamboyant Room of Dr. Margono Soekrajo Purwokerto Hospital. Method: Descriptive with a case study approach with the subject of 5 post sectio caesarea patients with acute pain problems. Bitter orange aromatherapy was given 2 times a day for 2 days in the morning and evening before being given analgesics with a duration of 15 minutes accompanied by slow deep breathing. The pain scale was measured by Numeric Rating Scale before the action and evaluated 30 minutes after the therapy. Result: The five patients experienced the main nursing problem of acute pain. after the action of giving bitter orange aromatherapy and slow deep breathing, the results were effective in reducing the intensity of pain in post sectio caesarea patients. Recommendation: Aromatherapy bitter orange and slow deep breathing are effective in post sectio caesarea patients to reduce pain intensity.
