Abstract

Background: In general, patients with infections or respiratory problems would experience an increase in the production of excess mucus or phlegm in their lungs. The accumulated mucus would become sticky and adhere to the respiratory tract, making secretion difficult. The main issue in patients with bronchitis was ineffective airway clearance, characterized by dyspnea, rhonchi, excessive sputum, and ineffective coughing. Objective: The purpose of this writing is to get an overview of the application of the tripod position and the administration of warm water as an ineffective airway management in bronchitis sufferers. Method: This paper uses a descriptive case study design. The case study subjects were 5 bronchitis patients who experienced problems with ineffective airway clearance. Data collection using observation techniques, interviews and documentation studies. Results: The main nursing diagnosis that appeared in all five bronchitis patients was ineffective airway clearance. Implementation is carried out according to nursing intervention, evaluation of results for 3 x 24 hours, the client experiences decreased sputum production. Recommendation: Nurses are expected to be able to apply the tripod position and administer warm water to deal with the problem of ineffective airway clearance in bronchitis patients.
