Abstract

Background: Some hormonal chemotherapy drugs inhibit the growth of hormone-dependent cancer cells, so they need to be taken consistently. Non-adherence can decrease the effectiveness of therapy and slow the treatment response. Therefore, adherence to the use of hormonal category chemotherapy drugs is very important in the treatment of breast cancer patients. Objective: This study aims to see the level of compliance with the use of hormonal category chemotherapy drugs in breast cancer patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Methods: This study uses an obsessive descriptive design. Data collection is carried out prospectively. The data collected were 80 patients who met the inclusion criteria who underwent hormonal treatment. The data was analysed using MS Excel to find out the percentage of hormonal drug use. Result: The results of the study on 80 breast cancer patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital, aged 46-55 years as many as 40 patients (50%), 43 patients (53.75%) who were not working, 32 patients (40%) had the last education in elementary school, and the most widely used drug Tamofen was 63 patients (78.75%). The results of the compliance rate of the use of hormonal category chemotherapy drugs in patients with moderate breast cancer were 38 patients (47.5%), 27 patients (33.75%) were low, and 15 patients (18.75%) were high Conclusion: The compliance of breast cancer patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital is included in the medium category. This is because patients sometimes forget to take medication. Recommendations: It is necessary to implement a drug registration system, as data to support compliance assessments. As well as knowing the risk factors that may affect the level of compliance of breast cancer patients in taking hormonal drugs.
