Abstract
Background : Herbal medicine has become an alternative for disease prevention and offers benefits for the body. Herbal medicine is a natural medicine consisting of ingredients or concoctions obtained from plants, animals, minerals, galenic preparations, or mixtures of these ingredients, which have been used as traditional treatments for generations. Rational use of medicine requires patients to receive the medicine according to their needs. One factor influencing rational use is the prescription pattern. Correct prescriptions will impact the success of therapy. The Pekalongan City Health Office's Herbal Medicine Service and Scientific Center (BPSJ) is developing herbal medicine products and even has a Herbal Medicine Scientific Clinic as an innovation in public health services in Pekalongan City. Purpose : To determine the pattern of prescription of natural medicine for outpatients at the Herbal Medicine Service and Scientification Center (BPSJ) of the Pekalongan City Health Office for the period January-February 2025 based on the type of disease and the type of natural medicine prescribed. Method : This study used a non-experimental descriptive design with retrospective data collection. The data source was outpatient prescriptions at the Herbal Medicine Service and Scientification Center (BPSJ) of the Pekalongan City Health Office. Result : The results of this study indicate that the pattern of prescribing natural medicine to patients at the Center for Herbal Medicine Services and Scientification (BPSJ) of the Pekalongan City Health Office for the period January-February 2025 based on the type of disease and the type of natural medicine prescribed is as follows, herbal medicine for diabetes mellitus is 16.6%, herbal medicine for stomach disorders is 13.3%, herbal medicine for high blood pressure is 13.3%, herbal medicine for arthritis is 10%, herbal medicine for obesity is 10%, herbal medicine for gout is 6.7%. The percentage for herbal medicine for fitness is 23.4%, herbal medicine for urinary tract stones is 6.7%. Conclusion : It can be concluded that the pattern of prescribing natural medicine to patients at the Herbal Medicine Service and Scientification Center (BPSJ) of the Pekalongan City Health Office, the type of prescription with the highest percentage is for fitness diagnoses with fitness herbal concoctions of 23.4%. Recommendation : Further research is needed regarding counseling on natural medicines to increase public knowledge regarding the use of natural medicines.
