Abstract

Background: Asthma is a condition in which the respiratory tract narrows due to hypersensitivity to certain stimuli. Asthma, if uncontrolled, can have fatal consequences if not treated properly. Various therapies can be done to deal with this problem, one of which is the use of the Buteyko breathing exercise technique, where this breathing technique has the function of relaxing the respiratory muscles, intracosta muscles, elevating the diaphragm, costal muscles, and reducing hyperventilation. Objective: To explain nursing care for asthma patients with nursing problems of ineffective breathing patterns with Buteyko breathing exercise interventions in the Emergency Room of Prembun Hospital. Method: The research method is descriptive with a case study approach. The subjects of the case study to be studied are 5 asthma patients with the main problem of ineffective breathing patterns. The tools in this study are the nursing care format, observation sheets, and Buteyko breathing technique SPO. Data presentation by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, which are presented in the documentation method and nursing care resume Results: The results of the assessment showed that the five patients had a main complaint of shortness of breath. The priority nursing diagnosis in Patients I-V was an ineffective breathing pattern related to respiratory effort obstruction. The nursing intervention carried out was the Buteyko breathing technique. The nursing implementation carried out was the Buteyko breathing exercise. Nursing evaluation of the five patients showed that after the Buteyko breathing innovation was carried out, the problem of ineffective breathing patterns in the five patients was resolved. Conclusion: there was a decrease in symptoms of shortness of breath and an improvement in the patient's SpO2 after the innovation was carried out by carrying out Buteyko breathing exercises on the patient. Recommendation: The results of this nursing care can be used as a reference for compiling SPOs for managing patients with ineffective breathing patterns in asthma patients
