Abstract

Background: Stroke is a serious neurological condition caused by impaired blood flow to the brain and is the third leading cause of death in Indonesia. Risk factors include hypertension, diabetes, poor diet, physical inactivity, obesity, heart disease, and smoking. This study examines risk factors at Sempor 1 Public Health Center to understand their contribution to stroke incidence. Objective: To identify factors associated with stroke risk at Sempor 1 Public Health Center, including age, gender, physical activity, diet, smoking, hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Methods: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design, involving 48 respondents selected based on inclusion criteria. Data were collected through questionnaires and direct measurements and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: Age, physical activity, hypertension, diet, obesity, and heart disease were significantly associated with stroke (p < 0.05), while gender and smoking were not significant (p > 0.05). Advanced age and hypertension were the main determinants of stroke risk. Conclusion: This study found that age, physical activity, hypertension, diet, obesity, and heart disease were significantly associated with stroke risk, whereas gender and smoking habits were not. Advanced age and hypertension were identified as the primary risk factors for stroke. Recommendations: Health education for the community on managing stroke risk factors, promoting healthy lifestyles through physical activity and balanced diets, and strengthening early detection programs for chronic diseases at Sempor 1 Public Health Center.
