Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a common health 40% problem among the elderly and can lead to serious complications if not managed properly. Ineffective health maintenance in elderly hypertensive patients is often caused by a lack of knowledge, non-adherence to treatment, and unhealthy lifestyles. This study aims to analyze nursing care for families in the elderly developmental stage with the main problem of ineffective health maintenance in elderly hypertensive patients in Brokoh Pancurwening Village, Wonosobo. Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the results of nursing care analysis for families in the elderly developmental stage with the main problem of ineffective health maintenance in elderly hypertensive patients in Brokoh Pancurwening Village, Wonosobo District, Wonosobo Regency. Methods: This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The subjects were 5 families with elderly hypertensive patients in Brokoh Pancurwening Village. Instruments used included nursing care formats, blood pressure measurement tools, and autogenic relaxation SOPs. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative descriptive methods, with data presented in narrative and tabular forms. Results: The assessment results showed that all five families had issues with ineffective health maintenance, characterized by a lack of understanding about hypertension, non-adherence to treatment, and unhealthy lifestyles. The priority nursing diagnosis was Ineffective Health Maintenance. Nursing interventions focused on hypertension education, autogenic relaxation training, and blood pressure monitoring. Evaluation results showed a decrease in blood pressure among all five elderly patients after the application of autogenic relaxation, with an average systolic blood pressure reduction of 16-20 mmHg. Conclusion: Autogenic relaxation therapy is effective in reducing blood pressure in elderly hypertensive patients and improving the family's ability to manage health issues. This intervention can be a beneficial non-pharmacological approach in the management of hypertension in the elderly. Recommendation: Autogenic relaxation therapy can be integrated into family nursing care programs for elderly hypertensive patients, especially in rural areas with limited access to healthcare.
