Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the most serious diseases and often does not show early symptoms. Acute head pain is one of the common symptoms in hypertensive patients. This symptom if left untreated can cause ongoing pain, thus requiring nursing interventions to reduce pain. Nostril breathing therapy is a nonpharmacological therapy that has significant potential to reduce acute pain in hypertensive patients. Objectives: To explain nursing care with the provision of non-pharmacological therapy Nostril breathing to reduce acute pain scale in hypertensive patients at the Emergency Department of Prof. DR. Margono Soekarjo. Method: In the preparation of this Scientific Paper, researchers used descriptive methods with a case study approach. The samples in this study were 5 patients with a diagnosis of hypertension. Nursing Care Results: After carrying out the nursing process in 5 patients with hypertension who complained of acute pain scale 5 and 6 for 15-20 minutes with the application of Nostril breathing therapy. An evaluation of the results showed a decrease in the value of the moderate to mild pain scale with an average of 3 points. Conclusion: The provision of Nostril breathing therapy has a significant effect on reducing the pain scale in patients with hypertension . Recommendations: The results of this study can be applied to patients with acute pain to reduce the pain scale.
