Abstract

Background, By understanding the application of nursing care and providing innovation to the elderly at home, it can determine the extent to which the family needs information, education, practice which will further affect the patient's sense of comfort. General objectives, Describe nursing care by providing complementary foot massage therapy to the elderly with nursing problems of discomfort related to symptoms of hypertension. Methods, The type of research is a case study case study using research instruments in the form of filling in the pain scale with NRS or Numeric Rating Scale after the application of foot massage to 5 (five) elderly people with a time contract for each meeting for 15 - 45 minutes, the frequency of meetings is 2 times for 3 consecutive days of implementation of research to the elderly. The results of nursing care, the main nursing diagnoses that arise in the five elderly hypertension are disorders of comfort, the implementation is carried out according to the massage therapy intervention, namely foot massage, the results of the patient experiencing changes in the results of the NRS or Numeric Rating Scale pain scale, blood pressure and reduced complaints of discomfort. Recommendations, nurses are expected to apply massage therapy with foot massage to deal with nursing problems of discomfort in the elderly with hypertension
