Abstract

Background: Abdominal colic is a feeling of discomfort in the stomach that comes and goes and comes from the organs in the stomach, usually the infection in the abdominal organs is the trigger for abdominal colic. Abdominal colic is characterized by abdominal pain. Nursing intervention for pain is pain management, one of which is by performing non-pharmacological autogenic relaxation techniques to overcome the pain experienced by patients. Objective: Providing nursing care to abdominal colic patients by administering autogenic therapy with acute pain nursing problems in the Emergency Room of PKUMuhammadiyah Hospital, Gombong. Method: This study uses a descriptive method, which aims to describe the application of autogenic relaxation therapy to abdominal colic patients with acute pain. The subjects taken in this case study were 5 abdominal colic patients with acute pain. The instrument for measuring the pain scale using the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) has been tested for validity and reliability before. Nursing care results: After nursing actions were carried out by administering non- pharmacological autogenic relaxation therapy to reduce pain levels in 3 meetings with a duration of 8-10 minutes per meeting within a span of 1 hour, the results obtained in all five patients showed a decrease in pain scale as measured by the Numeric Rating Scale. All five patients experienced a decrease in pain levels, with an average decrease in pain scale from scale 6 to scale 3. Recommendation: This study is expected to be one of the reference sources for hospitals to establish collaboration in overcoming acute pain nursing problems with non- pharmacological techniques of autogenic relaxation therapy
