Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the most fundamental problems in the elderly. Hypertension health problems in the elderly cause effective sleep time to decrease, and cause inadequate sleep quality and cause various kinds of sleep complaints so that it can interfere with the quality of life of the elderly Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between sleep quality and quality of life and the incidence of hypertension in Alian sub-district Methods: Design an analytical descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was 57 respondents who were selected by the purposive sampling technique. Data collection used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire, whoqol-bref and blood pressure measurements, the data was analyzed using Spearman's Rho Correlation. Results: The results of the study obtained a significant value (p=0.001<0.05) which can be interpreted as there is a relationship between sleep quality and hypertension. The quality of life of the respondents in this study was also categorized in 4 (four) dimensions. The quality of life of the respondents in the measured dimensions were poor quality in the physical dimension category of 29 people (50.9%), psychological dimension 34 people (59.6%), social relationship dimension 35 people (61.4%), and environmental relationship dimension 38 people (66.7%). The results of this study show that in general, quality of life is related to hypertensio n. Conclusion: Sleep quality and quality of life have a significant relationship with blood pressure in hypertensive patients at Alian Health Center. Recommendations for Future Researchers: It is hoped that this study can be the basis for data for future research in determining appropriate interventions to improve sleep quality and quality of life of hypertensive patients.
