Abstract
Background: Mental health is crucial for optimal human development. Severe mental disorders are significant public health concerns. Individuals with mental disorders (IDMD) are at risk of social isolation, which can hinder their ability to interact with others. However, regular treatment can help IDMD live productively and interact with their environment. Objective: This study aimed to identify the level of social interaction skills among individuals with mental disorders at Mandiraja Community Health Center, Banjarnegara. Methods: This quantitative descriptive study employed a verificative approach. A sample of 100 IDMD with social interaction problems was selected. Data was collected using questionnaires and observation sheets, and analyzed using univariate statistics. Results: : Based on the study conducted in the Mandiraja Public Health Center area in Banjarnegara, of the 100 people with mental disorders (IDMD) who were respondents, 58 people were men (58.0%), 42 people were women (42%), young adults (36- 55 years old) as many as 50 people (50.0%), and the majority completed elementary/SDLB education (88.0%). This research also shows that all respondents have good social interaction skills in general with a score of 92%, cognitive and psychomotor with a score of 89%. It is said to be good when the results show a figure above 75%. Conclusion: IDMD receiving treatment at Mandiraja Community Health Center generally possess good social interaction skills. Nevertheless, there is a need for more specific interventions to enhance maintain the psychomotor aspects of social interaction in a subset of individuals. Recommendations: Community-based rehabilitation programs could be designed to improve the social interaction skills of IDMD, with a focus on psychomotor skills.
