Abstract

Background: Family supportiscrucialfortherecoveryofpatientswithmentaldisorders after inpatienttreatment.Withoutadequatesupport,patientsriskrelapseordifficultywith social adaptation.WHOdata(2020)recordsabout202millionpeopleinAsia experiencing mentaldisorders.MentaldisordersareamajorhealthprobleminIndonesia, with aprevalenceof18.6%amongthepopulationaged15andover,reaching19.3%in Kebumen Regency.Thishighprevalenceindicatestheneedforeffectivementalhealth policies, especiallyinsupportingpatientfamilies. Purpose: This studyaimstodescribefamilysupport(emotional,instrumental, informational, andappraisal)forfamilymemberspost-treatmentofpatientswithmental disorders atAl-AfiyatWard,PKUMuhammadiyahGombongHospital. Methods: This researchisaquantitativedescriptivestudywithasurveyapproach.The population consistedofallfamilymembersofmentaldisorderpatientswhohadundergone inpatient treatmentatAl-AfiyatWard,PKUMuhammadiyahGombongHospitaltwo times ormore.Asampleof51respondentswasselectedusingpurposivesampling technique. Datawerecollectedthroughquestionnairesthathadbeentestedforvalidity and reliability.Datawereanalyzedunivariatelytoobservethefrequencydistributionof each familysupportvariable. Results: The resultsshowedthatthemajorityoffamiliesprovidedinstrumentalsupportin the "good"category(92.2%),informationalsupportinthe"good"category(76.5%), appraisal supportinthe"good"category(74.5%),andemotionalsupportinthe"sufficient" category (58.8%).Norespondentswereinthe"poor"categoryforalltypesofsupport. Overall, familysupportforfamilymemberspost-treatmentofpatientswithmental disorders atAl-AfiyatWard,PKUMuhammadiyahGombongHospitalwasinthe"good" category (86.3%). Conclusion: Family supportformentaldisorderpatientsatAl-AfiyatWard,PKU Muhammadiyah GombongHospitalisgenerallyinthegoodtosufficientcategory,with instrumental supportbeingthemostdominantformprovidedbypatientfamilies. Recommendations: For thehospital,itisrecommendedtoincreaseregularfamily education tostrengtheninformationalandemotionalsupport.
