Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition characterized by a consistent increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure above 140/90 mmHg. Nursing interventions for discomfort include pain management, one of which is the use of non-pharmacological autogenic relaxation techniques to address headaches experienced by clients. Objective: To describe nursing care for elderly patients with hypertension and discomfort using autogenic relaxation therapy in Tunjungseto Village, Romagunung, RT 01 RW 02, Sempor. Method: This study used a descriptive method, aiming to describe the application of autogenic relaxation therapy to hypertensive clients with discomfort. The subjects selected in this case study were five clients with hypertension and discomfort. The instrument used to measure pain, the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), has previously been tested for validity and reliability. Nursing Care Results: After administering non-pharmacological autogenic relaxation therapy to reduce headache levels in three sessions, each lasting 15-30 minutes, for four days, five clients experienced a reduction in pain levels using the Numeric Rating Scale. All five clients experienced a reduction in headache levels, with an average decrease in pain scale from 6 to 3. Recommendations: This study is expected to serve as a reference source for clients and villages in addressing nursing problems related to discomfort using non-pharmacological techniques, namely autogenic relaxation therapy.
