Abstract

Background: Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability worldwide. Delayed recognition of stroke signs and symptoms can worsen patient outcomes. Therefore, health education is essential to enhance patients’ readiness for early stroke detection. One educational model developed for this purpose is “SeGeRa Ke RS”, which is designed to facilitate the recognition of stroke symptoms and encourage prompt medical action in accordance with established protocols. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the “SeGeRa Ke RS” educational model in improving early stroke detection readiness among patients with a history of stroke in the Gombong 1 Community Health Center. Method: A pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was conducted. The study population consisted of patients with a history of stroke in the Gombong 1 Community Health Center. A total of 33 respondents were recruited using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using a paired sample t-test after normality was confirmed by the Shapiro–Wilk test. Results: The analysis demonstrated a significant improvement in early stroke detection readiness, with the mean pre-test score of 72.58 increasing to 80.70 in the post-test. The mean difference was 8.12 points, and the result was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The “SeGeRa Ke RS” educational model is effective in enhancing early stroke detection readiness among patients with a history of stroke.
