Abstract

Background: The increasing number of elderly people every year can affect physical and psychological health, making them vulnerable to various problems. One of the problems that are often experienced in physiological terms due to the aging process is hypertension. Hypertension is a condition in which there is an increase in blood pressure above the normal threshold and usually causes headaches, in overcoming these problems researchers apply nursing advice by providing head massage therapy and murottal actions. Objective: To explain the analysis of gerontic hypertension nursing care with the management of head massage therapy and murottal at RSU Permata Medika Kebumen. Research Methods: This case study uses a descriptive method involving 5 elderly people who experience chronic pain in osteoarthritis. The data obtained using the PQRST observation sheet which is then analyzed to confirm the diagnosis. Actions given in the form of cold compresses and knee exercises. Results: Based on the results of a study conducted on 5 patients, it was found that the patients complained of headaches and tended to have high blood pressure. The interventions used to reduce pain were head massage therapy and listening to murottal. The therapy was administered 3 times for 10–15 minutes. The evaluation revealed that headaches in hypertensive patients decreased, and blood pressure also decreased and tended to stabilize. Conclusion: The results of this case study indicate a difference in pain scale as evidenced by a decrease in the value and signs of head pain symptoms before and after head massage therapy and murottal. Recommendation: It is recommended that the application in overcoming head pain is recommended to be done consistently to reduce head pain and facilitate elderly activities.
