Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a chronic disease defined as systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mmHg. Common signs and symptoms in hypertensive patients include neck pain. Autogenic relaxation techniques and warm foot baths have been proven effective in reducing pain. Objective: To describe the outcomes of nursing care for hypertensive patients with acute pain-related nursing issues at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo General Hospital. Method: This study used a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 5 pediatric pneumonia patients. The case study instruments included autogenic relaxation SOPs, warm foot soak SOPs, and observation forms before and after therapy administration Results: The application of the intervention on the five patients, all of whom experienced acute pain, involved non-pharmacological therapy using autogenic relaxation and warm foot soaks twice daily (morning and evening) for 3x24 hours, with each therapy session lasting 10-15 minutes. The patients were observed before and after therapy. After the 3x24-hour application to the five patients, a reduction in pain scale was observed in all five patients. Recommendations: The results of this study can be applied to patients with acute pain complaints using autogenic relaxation and warm water foot soaks to reduce pain scale, not only in hypertensive patients.
