Abstract

Background: Cancer is a chronic illness that requires a long series of treatments and carries uncertainty regarding recovery, which often leads to patients feeling stressed or anxious in coping with their illness. Therefore, interventions are necessary to help reduce patients' anxiety levels, one of which includes providing support therapy, education, and deep breathing relaxation accompanied by mindfulness. Objective: To present the results of interventions involving educational support therapy and deep breathing relaxation accompanied by chanting in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with anxiety disorders. Method: The educational support intervention and deep breathing relaxation accompanied by chanting were conducted using standard operating procedures and recorded through an activity observation sheet, with a total of 7 meetings each lasting 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, the anxiety levels before and after the activities were measured using the HARS questionnaire. Results: The results of the Project Based Learning involving 5 managed patients showed a decrease in anxiety levels. Asignificant decrease occurred in client number 2 with a success rate of 29%, indicated by a reduction from moderate anxiety to mild anxiety, while the lowest success rate was in patient number 5 with a success rate of 11%. Observations of activity capabilities revealed that patient number 1 experienced an increase in ability from 1 to 5, while there was no significant increase in patient number 5, which improved from a score of 0 to 2.
