Abstract

Background: ISPA is a respiratory tract disease that includes the upper respiratory tract. One of the problems that arise from ISPA is coughing. Accumulation of secretions is the result of production from the bronchi that comes out with coughing. Efforts to overcome ineffective airway clearance are carried out by inhaling water vapor with eucalyptus oil. Objective: to analyze nursing care by providing therapy for the application of eucalyptus oil steam therapy in ISPA patients. Case Study Method: case studies were conducted for 3 days to 5 patients with the application of eucalyptus oil inhalation intervention with the criteria of patients aged 6-10 years with coughing conditions. The results of nursing care: the results of the assessment obtained data on patients aged 6-10 years with ineffective airway clearance nursing problems with the provision of eucalyptus oil water vapor inhalation for 3 days with the results of 5 respondents experiencing a significant decrease in symptoms, namely that 3 respondents were wrong nursing care was resolved, namely An. A sputum discharge criteria increased from a value of 2 to 5, An. AF from 3 to 5, An. M from 2 to 5. Recommendation: it is expected that eucalyptus oil water vapor inhalation can be implemented in health center health services as a complementary therapy to overcome the problem of ineffective airway clearance in ISPA patients.
