Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition that leads to an increase in global cases, including in Indonesia. CKD patients often experience fatigue due to elevated urea and creatinine levels. Research shows that back massage can reduce fatigue by improving blood circulation and relaxation. Objective: To provide nursing care in the application of back massage for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients with fatigue at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methods: The research method is a case report. The subjects of this study were 5 CKD patients with fatigue. The instruments used in this study were nursing care formats, a Nursing Kit, observation of fatigue symptoms, and a back massage SOP. Data presentation was done by drawing conclusions based on subjective and objective data, presented in the form of documentation and a nursing care summary. Results: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients reported fatigue as the main complaint. The priority nursing diagnosis was fatigue accompanied by shortness of breath. The intervention and implementation included back massage, recommending a maximum of 8 hours of sleep per day, and reducing heavy activities. Evaluation showed a reduction in fatigue, with back massage innovation reducing fatigue symptoms from a score of 10 to 14. Conclusion: Back massage is effective in reducing fatigue in CKD patients. This intervention can be applied as part of routine nursing care to improve the quality of life of CKD patients. Recommendations: It is recommended to integrate back massage as an additional therapy in managing fatigue in CKD patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Training for nurses on back massage techniques is also necessary to ensure proper implementation.
