Abstract

Background, hypertension is the highest incidence of disease in Kebumen and poses a serious threat to the productive age group (29-44 years). This increase in prevalence is strongly suspected to be related to the adoption of unhealthy lifestyles such as lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, and poor smoking habits. Objective, determine the relationship between physical activity, eating patterns, and smoking habits with the incidence of hypertension among the productive age group at Kebumen III of Community Health Center. Method, using a quantitative cross-sectional method. Using total sampling technique, there were 52 respondents. The data collection technique was through questionnaires filled out by respondents. Results, the results showed that the characteristics of the respondents were as follows: the majority of respondents were aged 37, 40, 41, and 43 years old, with 5 respondents (9.6%) in each age group; the majority of respondents were female, with 36 respondents (69.2%); the majority of respondents were housewives, with 27 respondents (51.9%); education level was mostly high school with 31 respondents (59.6%), and the majority had stage I hypertension with 32 respondents (61.5%). There was a significant relationship between physical activity (p = <0.001), diet (p = 0.008), smoking habits (p = 0.005), and lifestyle (p = <0.001) and the incidence of hypertension. Conclusion, it is concluded that lifestyle has a significant correlation with the incidence of hypertension in productive age. Recommendations, for future researchers are espacted to continue to update research on lifestyle and the incidence of hypertension.
