Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney failure is a progressive disease that requires long- term therapy, such as hemodialysis, which affects the physical and psychological condition of patients. One psychological factor that plays an important role in treatment success is self-efficacy. Objective: This study aims to describe the level of self-efficacy in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital based on demographic characteristics. Methodology: This research uses a quantitative descriptive design with a cross- sectional approach. The research sample was taken through random sampling from chronic kidney failure patients undergoing routine hemodialysis. The instrument used was the Chronic Kidney Disease-Self Efficacy (CKD-SE) questionnaire. Results: The research results show that most patients have a high level of self- efficacy, with 133 respondents (70%), although there were still patients with moderate self-efficacy, totaling 55 respondents (28.9%). The description of patients' self-efficacy levels is reviewed based on age characteristics, education level, and duration of undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: The self-efficacy of patients with chronic kidney failure is considered high. Recommendation for Future Research: Future studies are recommended to examine factors influencing self-efficacy. Nurses and hospitals are also encouraged to implement psychosocial interventions to improve self-efficacy among patients with chronic kidney disease.
