Abstract

Background: Bronchial asthma is a condition of airway narrowing caused by hypersensitivity due to stimulation of the bronchi, so an action is needed to improve the condition. One of them is the buteyko breathing technique in addition to medical therapy. General objectives: To analyze nursing care for ineffective breathing patterns with the application of buteyko breathing to patients with bronchial asthma in the emergency room of Banjarnegara Islamic Hospital. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study design on 5 asthma patients by applying buteyko breathing techniques. Nursing care results: Assessment of patients aged 45 - 59 years. Diagnosis of patients with shortness of breath and ineffective airway due to recurrence of asthma suffered by the patient. Interventions applied in the form of breathing techniques. Evaluation of five patients on the nursing problem of ineffective breathing patterns obtained subjective data that the patient said shortness of breath could be reduced after buteyko therapy. Recommendation: There is an effectiveness of buteyko therapy in clearing the airway ineffective in patients with bronchial asthma in the emergency room of RSI Banjarnegara. The innovation of buteyko therapy nursing interventions can later be used as a Hospital SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for patients with asthma patients with ineffective breathing patterns nursing problems so that patients can apply buteyko therapy.
