Abstract

Background: Violent behavior is defined as anger expressed excessively and uncontrollably, either verbally or physically, to the extent of injuring others and/or damaging the environment. One of the symptoms that appear in schizophrenia with violent behavior is outbursts of anger, such as a history of self-harm or harming others and the surrounding environment. Objective: This case study aims to identify the outcomes obtained in patients with the nursing problem of violent behavior. Methodology: The method used in this case study is descriptive narrative. The patient in this case is Mr. B with a medical diagnosis of schizophrenia and the nursing problem of violent behavior. Results: Evaluation was carried out by monitoring changes in clinical symptoms and the patient’s response to the implemented interventions. After applying dzikir therapy for four consecutive days, the results showed an improvement of two levels in the aggressive/rage behavior indicator (from an initial score of 1 – very increased, to 3 – moderate) and a one-level improvement in loud speech and pacing behavior (from 2 – moderately increased, to 3 – moderate). Recommendation: Dzikir therapy is effective in reducing symptoms of rage and agitation in patients with violent behavior.
