Abstract

Background : Acute pain is a common nursing problem among hypertensive patients that can worsen blood pressure and increase anxiety levels. Non-pharmacological therapies such as Mozart classical music are considered effective as complementary treatments to relieve pain and naturally lower blood pressure. Objective : This case study aims to analyze the implementation of nursing care using Mozart classical music therapy for hypertensive patients with acute pain in the Emergency Room (ER) of RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Methods : This study employed a qualitative descriptive case study approach. The subjects were five hypertensive patients experiencing acute pain in the ER. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and physical examination. Intervention was conducted once for four hours using relaxation therapy with Mozart’s classical music. Evaluation was based on changes in pain scale and patient vital signs. Results : Evaluation results showed a decrease in pain intensity, with an average reduction in pain scale from 5 to 3, as well as a decrease in blood pressure after intervention. Patients also appeared calmer and were able to manage their pain independently using the taught relaxation techniques. Conclusion : The implementation of Mozart classical music therapy effectively helped reduce acute pain in hypertensive patients and can be integrated into comprehensive nursing care in the emergency room. Recommendation : It is recommended that music therapy be included in nursing care Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in hospitals to improve the quality of nursing services and enhance patient comfort.
