Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder affecting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, with hallucinations as one of its primary symptoms. Auditory hallucinations, in particular, can significantly disrupt daily functioning. Psychoreligious therapy, including Quran recitation, has shown potential in reducing hallucinations and improving mental well-being. Objective: This study aims to analyze nursing care for patients with hallucinations who receive psychoreligious therapy in the form of Quran recitation in Dosaroso, Kebumen. Methods: This descriptive study uses a case study approach. The subjects were 5 patients experiencing hallucinations. Instruments used include nursing care formats, implementation strategies (SP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the innovative psychoreligious therapy involving Quran recitation. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively, presented in tables and narrative form. Results: The assessment results for Clients I-V indicated that auditory hallucinations caused fear and anxiety, affecting behaviors such as daydreaming and difficulty with social interactions. The primary nursing diagnosis is sensory perception disturbance in the form of auditory hallucinations. Interventions included implementing Strategies I-IV and Quranic reading practice. The innovative actions demonstrated a reduction in hallucination symptoms ranging from 42.86% to 85.71%, while the ability to reduce hallucinations through Quranic reading consistently achieved 100% across all clients, reflecting the positive effects of the interventions. Client I showed a 71.43% reduction in hallucinations with significant symptom decrease. Client II experienced a 50% reduction, although symptoms still frequently occurred. Client III had a 42.86% reduction with significant improvement but not complete resolution. Clients IV and V each had an 85.71% reduction, with symptoms nearly eliminated. The ability to reduce hallucinations through Quranic reading remained at 100% for all clients. Percentage Reduction in Hallucination Symptoms: Highest: Clients IV and V, each with a reduction of 85.71%. Conclusion: Psychoreligious therapy involving Quran recitation is effective in reducing hallucination symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. The decrease in hallucination symptoms and the improvement in Quran recitation ability demonstrate the success of this intervention in enhancing patients' mental well-being. Recommendations: Further research is needed to explore the effectiveness of psychoreligious therapy in broader contexts and to identify factors influencing its success. Additionally, the development of more detailed operational procedures for implementing Quran recitation therapy in nursing practice should be considered.
