Abstract

Background : Scabies is an infectious disease caused by contamination with mites, this mite is Sarcoptes scabiei var (Sarcoptes sp.). Awareness of implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle is one solution to reducing the incidence of scabies. In Indonesia itself there are Scabies prevalence 4%-12%. The reason for the high incidence of scabies in the Class IIB Detention Center in Kebumen is due to the low level of clean and healthy lifestyle of correctional inmates, and personal hygiene is one of the causes of the transmission of scabies. Research purposes : To determine the relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies in the Class IIB Kebumen Detention Center Research methods : This research used quantitative methods with a cross-sectional design and a correlational approach, with a total of 60 inmates at the Class IIB Kebumen Detention Center. Data was collected through a personal hygiene questionnaire, which had been tested for validity and reliability at the Ad'in Mangli Kuwarasan Islamic boarding school. Statistical analysis uses correlation Chi square. Research result : showed that there was no relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies in the adult block of the Kebumen Class IIB detention center (p-value = 0.212). Conclusion: The research results show that there is no relationship between personal hygiene and the incidence of scabies in the Adult Block of the Class IIB Kebumen Detention Center. Recommendations for future researchers: It is hoped that further research can develop other variables that can influence the incidence of disease scabies such as knowledge, social practices and personal choices.
