Abstract

Background services in hospitals play an important role in ensuring patient safety, particularly in the management of high-alert medications. High-alert medications are drugs that have a high risk of causing serious injury or death if errors occur in their storage, preparation, or administration. Objective This study aimed to describe the storage of high-alert medications in the Pharmacy Installation of RS Soerojo Magelang. Methods This research used a descriptive method with primary data collected through direct observation and interviews with pharmacy warehouse staff. The objects of this study included high-alert medications in the Look Alike Sound Alike (LASA) category and high-concentration electrolytes. Results The results showed that the storage of LASA high-alert medications in the Pharmacy Installation of RS Soerojo achieved a compliance level of 90%, with several medications not yet labeled according to LASA standards. Meanwhile, the storage of high-alert medications in the high-concentration electrolyte category showed 100% compliance with the applicable standard operating procedures. Conclusion, the storage of high-alert medications in the Pharmacy Installation of RS Soerojo has been implemented properly through drug segregation, labeling, temperature control, and the application of FIFO and FEFO systems. However, improvement is still needed, particularly in labeling compliance for LASA medications, to minimize medication errors and enhance patient safety.
