Abstract
Background: The incidence of acute gastroenteritis is increasing in Indonesia. Hyperthermia in patients with acute gastroenteritis occurs as a physiological response to bacterial or viral infection in the gastrointestinal tract. One of the non- pharmacological interventions for hyperthermia is aloe vera compress therapy. Objective: To provide nursing care through the application of aloe vera compresses in patients with acute gastroenteritis experiencing hyperthermia at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This study employed a case study approach involving five patients diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis accompanied by hyperthermia. Data were collected using observation sheets. The intervention consisted of aloe vera compress therapy applied for 15 minutes in two cycles daily over three consecutive days. Results: The primary nursing diagnosis identified in all five patients was hyperthermia. Implementation of nursing interventions focused on external cooling therapy, specifically aloe vera compresses. The results showed a reduction in body temperature following the aloe vera compress intervention. Recommendation: Nurses are encouraged to apply aloe vera compress therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention to manage hyperthermia in patients with acute gastroenteritis
