Abstract
Background: Breastfeeding means providing nutrients needed for the growth and development of baby's nerves. The lack of production and ejection of breast milk during the early few days after delivery are the problems of early breastfeeding. Hormone oxytocin and prolactin hormone inf;uence the long-term milk production that can be released by applying endorphin massage. This is done by giving soft cares first, then by massaging on the back. Endorphin massage is an intervention on postpartum mother to accelerate the production and ejection of breast milk. Objective: Applying endorphin massages to accelerate the production and ejection of breast milk. Knowing the characteristics and effectiveness of endorphin massage. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive. The writer describes the facts of the assessments obtained from interviews and direct observation, and documentation. Result: After having endorphine massage, the breast milk ejection was increasing – from 1 ml to be 5.5 ml (Mrs. SU), 2 ml to be 7 ml (Mrs. WI), 0 ml to be 4.1 ml (Mrs. WA), 3 ml to be 7 ml (Mrs. Ra), 0 ml to be 6 ml (Mrs. TU). furthermore, the average frequency of urination was aslo increasing – form 5 times to be 10 times a day. The sleep duration was increasing too – from 3 hours to be 4 hours per day, the average weight increased from 3120 grams to be 3480 grams and the breasts became stiff. Conclusion: Endorphine massage can increase the production and ejection of breast milk of post partum mothers.
