Abstract

Background: Non-hemorrhagic stroke is a functional brain disorder caused by the interruption of blood flow to the brain, which often results in neurological deficits such as hemiparesis. This condition leads to impaired physical mobility, where patients experience limitations in limb movement. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to improve muscle strength is mirror therapy. General Purpose: To describe nursing care for impaired physical mobility using mirror therapy in patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. Method: This study used a descriptive design with a case study approach. The subjects consisted of 5 patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke experiencing impaired physical mobility. Mirror therapy intervention was carried out for 3 days with a duration of 20 minutes per session. The instruments used included a muscle strength observation sheet (scale 0–5) and a mirror therapy SOP. Nursing Care Outcomes: After implementation over 5 sessions, all five clients showed varying improvements in muscle strength. The most significant improvements were observed in client 1 and client 4, with increased muscle strength scores in both upper and lower extremities. These results indicate that mirror therapy is effective in stimulating brain plasticity to improve motor function. Recommendation: Mirror therapy is recommended as an effective and efficient independent nursing intervention to help restore muscle strength in stroke patients with impaired physical mobility.
