Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period when a person experiences changes in their physical, emotional, and psychological state. Adolescence, also known as puberty, is the time when the human reproductive system matures (Puspita, 2019). A common problem in adolescents during menstruation is dysmenorrhea (Sukmiati Eti, Karubuy Milka Anggreni, 2024). Objective: To determine the effectiveness of acupressure and lavender aromatherapy combo to reduce dysmenorrhea pain in female adolescents at Muhammadiyah Gombong Junior High School. Methods: This research was a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest format. A key characteristic of experimental research was the provision of an intervention to one or more groups in order to observe the resulting outcomes. The quasi-experimental design applied in this study followed a one-group pretest-posttest approach. Results: The results of the study using the Wilcoxon test obtained a Z value of - 7.402b and a p value of 0.000 (<0.05). This confirms that the combination of acupressure and lavender aromatherapy therapy is effective in reducing menstrual pain in adolescent girls. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the acupressure and lavender aromatherapy combo intervention has a significant effect on reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in female adolescents at Muhammadiyah Gombong Junior High School. Recommendations for Future Researchers: It is hoped that this research can be a data basis for further research in determining appropriate interventions to reduce the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls.
