Abstract

Background : Sleep can help newborns develop their brains, maintaining and controlling all of these extraordinary talents. Several studies have shown that children do experience sleep problems. In addition to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, midwives can help address sleep disorders. Massaging babies with lavender essential oil is one non-pharmacological approach to help them sleep better. One strategy to help newborns relax and sleep soundly is massage. Objective : To improve the sleep quality of infants aged 3-12 months at TPMB Heni Winarti Methods : Researchers used a descriptive quantitative methodology based on a case study design to examine the impact of massage with lavender essential oil on infant sleep quality. The population of this study was all infants aged 3-12 months at the HeniWinarti Childcare Center (TPMB), while the sample consisted of five infants aged 3-12 months, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and literature review. The instruments used were a respondent consent form and a BISQ questionnaire. Results : After applying massage with lavender essential oil three times a week for two weeks, all participants experienced an improvement in sleep quality, from a sufficient 6 hours of sleep per night to a good 9 hours of sleep per night. Conclusion : Applying massage with lavender essential oil to infants is effective in improving sleep quality in infants aged 3-12 months.
