Abstract

VACCINE STORAGE MANAGEMENT AT THE CILACAP DISTRICT HEALTH OFFICE Background: Vaccines are biological products that are sensitive to temperature changes and therefore require proper storage through a cold chain system. Inappropriate storage management may reduce the quality and effectiveness of vaccines. Objective: To determine the overview of pharmaceutical care in vaccine storage management at the warehouse of the Cilacap District Health Office based on the Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 12 of 2017. Methods: This study used an observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Samples were obtained using the total sampling method involving all vaccine storage facilities in the pharmaceutical warehouse of the Cilacap District Health Office. The research instruments included observation checklists, staff interviews, and documentation. The study was conducted from May 12 to May 24, 2025. Results of Pharmaceutical Care: Vaccine storage facilities such as cold rooms and freezer rooms were available and functioning properly. Temperature monitoring was carried out routinely twice a day using a data logger. Vaccine stock management applied the FEFO (First Expired First Out) and FIFO (First In First Out) methods, and storage documentation and standard operating procedures (SOP) were available and properly implemented. Recommendation: It is recommended to improve real-time temperature monitoring systems, conduct periodic equipment calibration, and provide training on cold chain management for staff.
